From Awareness to Action: Strengthening the Rights and Dignity of Older Persons
Older persons’ wellbeing is a shared responsibility. It requires accessible services, protection from abuse, social connection, responsive institutions and meaningful participation in community life.

The Sensitization Booklet on Older Persons and Ageing in Kenya, published by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, provides a useful reference for understanding the rights of older persons, healthy ageing, elder abuse prevention, care systems and intergenerational solidarity.
For Ethel Foundation for the Aged, these themes reinforce the importance of connecting policy commitments with the realities older persons experience.
Through healthcare and nutrition initiatives, social protection advocacy, caregiver and community capacity strengthening, and programmes that encourage participation, EFA works towards a society where older persons can live with dignity and security.
The next step is collective action: stronger referral systems, greater public awareness, better coordination and the meaningful involvement of older persons in decisions affecting their lives.
Our message is simple: dignity must be experienced, rights must be protected, and inclusion must be practised.
