World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) 2026
Ethel Foundation for the Aged invites older persons, caregivers, families, community leaders, government representatives, civil society organizations, and members of the public to join us in commemorating World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) 2026.
Observed globally every year on 15 June, WEAAD raises awareness about the abuse, neglect, exploitation, and mistreatment of older persons while promoting their rights, dignity, safety, and wellbeing. The day was launched in 2006 by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (INPEA) and the World Health Organization and is now recognized internationally as a key advocacy day for protecting older persons.
This year's celebration will focus on strengthening relationships across generations and mobilizing communities to create environments where older persons are respected, protected, and valued.
